Kingston has announced the KC300 solid-state
drive (SSD), the latest addition to its SSDNow range, with an emphasis
on business use.
The 2.5in SSD is available in capacities of 60GB, 120GB, 180GB, 240GB and 480GB, with all versions coming with an LSI SandForce second-generation SF-2281 processor, which provides advanced power management, consuming a maximum of 0.6Watts when idle, 1.4 Watts when reading and 2.9 Watts when writing.
The KC300 replaces previous Kingston business drives like the V+200 and KC100. It comes with a variety of enterprise-grade SMART capabilities, including the ability to monitor wear range data, remaining drive life, write amplification and total bytes written.
The drive includes Data Integrity Protection with DuraWrite technology for enhanced shelf life, thanks to an intelligent compression engine. The addition of RAISE also reduces the number of uncorrectable errors on the drive, for extra reliability.
The device is has a life expectancy of one million hours mean time between failures. Maximum random 4k reads range from between 84,000 and 73,000 IOPS depending on capacity, while maximum random 4k writes range from 32,000 to 64,000 IOPS. It has a PCMark Vantage HDD Suite Score of 57,000.
The drive can be stored at between -40 degrees Celsius and 85 degrees Celsius and can operate between 0 degrees Celsius and 70 degrees Celsius.
The KC300 also includes a three-year warranty and free technical support from Kingston.
