Less than 24 hours have passed since Google dropped the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 into our laps with the same amount level of enthusiasm and preparation as a straight-to-DVD release, but that has done nothing to slow down the enthusiastic efforts of the Android community to see what makes all of these new goodies tick. The best part of this is that it means you’ll get new toys on your existing Android phone.
If you’d like to start off with something simple, you can grab all of the wallpapers that were included with the Nexus 5. There’s a couple of really good ones in there, and they are likely to only be included with this phone so if you want to check them out you can download them here.
Next up comes APKs, the little bits of installable goodness that are used to put apps on your Android smartphone. Android 4.4 is full of new apps, and while most of them will be available through the Google Play Store eventually there’s no need to wait if you don’t want to. Fair warning, though, there’s no guarantee that these will work perfectly on your phone.
