Microsoft has bought its addictive Wordament puzzle game to Android, which sees Xbox Live achievements finally making their way to Google's mobile operating system.
For the uninitiated, Wordament is a Boggle-type game that is already available on iOS, Windows Phone and Windows 8. The game was the first to bring Xbox Live achievements to the iPhone and iPad, and today it has become the first to bring the Xbox Live network to the Android operating system.
Once the app is downloaded onto an Android device, users will be given the option to sign in to their Xbox accounts, and the game will sync friends, leaderboards, and support real-time play against others on Windows Phone, Windows 8, iOS and Android devices. There's also the option to sign in with Facebook, for non-Xbox users.
Microsoft said on the Wordament website, "We have had a large number of requests for an Android version of Wordament over the past several years. We believe that Wordament is a game best played with all your friends.
"Since it's a BYOD world, we've decided to bring Android into the Wordament family. Wordament is available on your Ice Cream Sandwich and above device starting today. We look forward to the new players and competition. Take it easy on them, as they are a few months behind."
As well as releasing Wordament for Android, Microsoft has updated the Windows Phone version of the app, adding improved support for different sized screen devices, and a number of bug fixes.
