Wow! Cheerful news guys, the much awaitedWindows Phone 8 GDR3 has appeared along with Nokia’a Bittersweet Shimmer update on Lumia 920, one of the flagship smartphone based on Windows Phone 8 from the Finnish mobile phone maker.
It means the update is being tested by OEMs and would be released soon as per schedules. The Bittersweet Shimmer update, which is said to be based on the Windows Phone 8 GDR3 platform release will come with a series of new, highly appealing features as follows.
- Supports 1080p displays and quad-core processors,
- The ability to close apps in the multi-tasking menu
- Driving Mode: allows the user to ignore calls and texts, and auto-reply to text messages when driving.
- Screen rotation settings
- Various small changes and performance improvements
Additionally, the update will also provide users with custom sounds for text, voice mail, e-mail, and reminders; the ability to restore from backup using Wi-Fi during setup; and a “huge amount of work on Bluetooth with various vehicles and devices,” as WPCentral notes.
The Bittersweet Shimmer update will debut first on new Nokia Lumia 1520 and then will be rolled out to the rest of Windows Phone 8 Lumia handsets in a phased manner. The update is expected to arrive by the end of this year.
