We’ve known for a while now that a cheaper version of the Moto X was in the works, going by the name Motorola DVX. Now it seems that the handset could soon be on its way, as the DVX appears to have just passed through the FCC.
Apparently on Thursday, August 29th three Moto devices passed through the FCC, models XT1032, XT1033 and XT1035. Of course model numbers don’t prove that this is really the DVX, but there are already a few UK retailers that have reserved pages for these model numbers – listing them as versions of the Motorola DVX. Looking further into the listings, it appears that the 8GB model could cost £155.98, or about $243, outright.
What does this mean for those in the States? If the DVX does become available here (which seems likely), it could certainly have a price point of $200 out right.With the Nexus 4 8GB model selling out at $199 with no plans to return, could the Motorola DVX end up on the Play Store as a budget-friendly alternative? If that proves true, would this mean that the actual 2nd gen Nexus 4 (or Nexus 5) will end up costing more than the Nexus 4 originally priced at? It’s hard to say for sure.
As always, this is an unconfirmed report, and so take everything with a grain of salt. Still, clearing out the Nexus 4 in favor of a low-cost Motorola device certainly doesn’t’ sound insane. What do you think?
