This long weekend has no shortage of things to do—weed the garden, clean the rain gutters, deal with that pile of bills you've been neglecting. Whew! But while you're at it, don't neglect your tech chores—your tech gear needs a little love, too! With that in mind, here are a few things to tidy up your digital life.
Back up your phone or tablet: You probably know that you need to back up your computer regularly, but don't forget about your phones and tablets, too. Luckily, it isn't too difficult: Find out how you can protect the data on both your Android and iOS devices.
Review your security settings: Now is as good a time as any to check your online security. Do a quick audit of your Web browser and make sure you're doing everything you can to surf safely. Next, Take a good look at your social media accounts and review your security and privacy settings to make sure you aren't accidentally exposing any private information that you want to keep private.
Once you've done that, take a few minutes to review the parental controls on your devices so your kids don't accidentally learn where babies come from without you realizing it.
This is also a good time to make sure your PC's software is up-to-date and to see if you're running the latest version of your antivirus software.
Recycle your old tech gear: While you clean out your disaster of a closet and curse your lack of storage space, consider recycling some of your old tech gear. We'll show you what you need to know to do it right.
