Yahoo has been super busy lately, and it shows no sign of slowing down. The Internet giant on Monday launched a new, free video-streaming app for iOS devices, dubbed Screen.
"Heading home, turning the TV on and channel-surfing is something that a lot of us do every day," Yahoo's director of product management, Robby Stein, wrote in a blog post announcing the new app. "This daily experience is what we wanted to recreate with our new Yahoo Screen app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch."
The app, created by Yahoo's mobile team in New York, lets you swipe through channels of content from Yahoo and its partners, then stream it wherever you are. You can browse trending clips, or search for specific shows, as well as skip between episodes by swiping to the left and right, or flip to a different channel by swiping up or down.
The app currently features what Yahoo is calling its Fall 2013 Comedy Lineup, which includes more than 1,000 hours of funny. There's archive clips of Saturday Night Live, as well as new Yahoo originals likeGhost Girls featuring Jack Black,Losing it with John Stamos, andTiny Commando. Yahoo also announced a new deal with Viacom to bring clips from popular Comedy Central shows like The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report to the app.
Besides comedy, the app features news, sports, food, and entertainment content from providers like MLB, UFC, The Onion, and Martha Stewart.
"We want Yahoo Screen to be a place where you can customize your experience to your liking while continually discovering new things to watch and share," Stein wrote. "We hope to make Yahoo Screen the destination for the world's best video creators and their awesome content."
Yahoo Screen is available for download now in the App Store.
