Football season is coming up fast, and that means it's
probably time for fans of fantasy football to get started with their
teams. The right software can make pouring over stats and tracking news
considerably easier, and Yahoo just updated its Fantasy Sports Football
app for the 2013 Football season on Android and iOS. It's sleeker, faster, and still pipes in tons of data.
To get started with the app, you'll need to have a Yahoo ID
so you can join or start a league. The app itself accepts logins from
Google and Facebook as well. In the new revamped app, you can draft
players from your device rather than going to the web. There are even
mock drafts so you can try out different lineups. The roster can also be
managed as needed during the season for trades and backups.
The app updates individual stats and scoring in real time
as the games are happening. You can just pop open Fantasy Sports and see
exactly how you're doing in the league. For better long-term planning,
Yahoo Fantasy Sports Football includes breaking news alerts, and a feed
of all the relevant news. The breaking alerts are customized for your
roster, as well.
Message boards are also built into the app so you can keep
up with other team managers in your league--or to gloat. Whichever way
you want to go.
The app's interface has been refreshed in this update. The
UI is actually very similar on Android and iOS. The developers did this
by not adhering too closely to the design guidelines of either platform.
That's a risky way to go, but the result is pretty good. The app is
mostly dark grey with white text and a series of tabs along the bottom
for navigation. The tablet UI uses a slide-out panel on the left for
navigation.
The Fantasy Sports Football feels responsive and you can't argue with
the price of zero dollars. You might want to give it a look before the
draft starts.source [[ pcmag ]]
