Google is taking a page out of Dropbox's book and offering free extra storage for certain HTC One handsets. The HTC One Max got 50GB of storage space out of the box, but we've been tipped that those with the handset's smaller sibling will net an additional 25GB of room in the cloud, all thanks to the international Sense 5.5 (and Android 4.3) update that readers have already started receiving in Europe. These expansions are in addition to the complimentary 15GB of Drive space available to all Google users, bringing the allotted storage totals to 65GB and 40GB for the One Max and One, respectively. There are a few caveats, though. According to Mountain View, the HTC One Developer Edition isn't eligible for this due to its unlocked bootloader. Furthermore, you can only activate this promo once per Google account, which rules out gaming the offer to get even more space.

Google gives all comers 15 gigabytes' worth of free storage across Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Plus Photos. Not a bad chunk of space just for having a heartbeat.
Of course, more is always better, especially when you don't have to pay for it. And Google is now offering exactly that, though there are a couple small catches.
From now through Sept. 26, you have the opportunity to score an extra 10GB of Google Drive space, no extra charge.
The requirement: Install the new Quickoffice app for Android or iOS--which, incidentally, is also now free. Then sign into your Google account via that app. Presto! You get another 10GB of gratis storage.
What's the catch? First, it won't appear right away; Google says to look for the space increase "in the next few weeks." Second, this isn't a permanent bump, though it is a lengthy one: you get the freebie for the next two years.

Google Drive - How-to - Tutorial
The official iOS app of Google Drive has just been updated to version 2.0.
Most notably, Google Drive 2.0 features a new design that’s based on the style of the soon to be officially released iOS 7. Most importantly, though, it makes for easier browsing and previewing of files stored in Google’s file syncing service.
“One of the features you’ve told us you want on Drive for iOS is the ability to effortlessly browse and preview files, just like you can on Android,” writes Google software engineer Kelvin Chan in a new post on the official Google Drive blog. “Today’s update delivers that same card-style thumbnail layout, along with a number of other upgrades that make it even easier to use Drive on your iPhone or iPad.”
In the latest version of Google Drive for iOS, you can now toggle between the new thumbnail view and the traditional list view with a single tap. You can now also view and edit files in landscape mode and see separate groupings of files and folders.
More often than not, though, you may find yourself searching for a particular file rather than browsing for it. In that case, you’ll be glad to see that search has been brought to the forefront of Google Drive for iOS.
Other improvements included in the new version of the Google Drive app let you easily copy the link for any file, move a file to a folder, or share a file.
Google Drive was last updated in July with the option to open links either in Chrome or in Safari when links are clicked from within files, plus the ability to insert rows and columns using the “+” button in spreadsheets.

Google's social networking effort Buzz
shut its doors last year but has popped up yet again, for what may be
the last time. In an email that just went out to former users, Google
noted it's packaging Buzz data into two files which will be stored on
their Drive accounts. One is private, which will hold all of their posts
both public and private, and another is public, which will contain a
copy of any of their public Buzz posts, accessible to anyone who has a
direct link (old Buzz links will redirect here.) One important note, is
that your comments on others posts will be saved to their Drive files,
and you won't be able to delete them once the shift happens "on or after
July 17th." Need to do a total wipe / some selective editing? Check the
link below to see your profile or the text of the message for a more
thorough explanation after the break.
